In more humid areas such as bathrooms or basements, good rear ventilation is important. This is achieved by vertical battens between the wall and the hand-hewn spruce boards, ensuring air circulation.
Once the substructure is mounted, the hand-hewn boards are gradually fixed in place. Start at the bottom or top – depending on orientation. There are several options for fixing:

Cracks, nail holes, discolorations, and other traces of previous use are typical features of these boards with a hand-hewn surface. They make every hand-hewn wood wall unique. During processing, small wood splinters may come loose – therefore careful handling is recommended.
