What Is a Conical Beam?

A tapered beam is a reclaimed beam that narrows along its length, for example from 14x16 cm to 13x15 cm, a shape that reflects the original form of the tree trunk. In the past, these hand-hewn reclaimed beams were worked directly from tree trunks with an axe, preserving the natural taper of the trunk in the old beam. This traditional technique not only gives the beam its characteristic shape but also emphasizes the craftsmanship and the natural origin of the material.
