Can I Install Reclaimed Wood Slats in a Van?
Yes, our reclaimed wood slats with a thickness of 7–8mm are very well suited for the interior finishing of vans, motorhomes, or tiny houses.
Installation:
The slats can simply be glued directly – no screws needed.
We recommend high-quality mounting adhesives such as:
Soudal Fix All High Tack
SikaTack® Panel
These adhesives are elastic, have strong adhesion, and withstand temperature fluctuations and vibrations in the vehicle.
Important: Apply adhesive in bead form (not flat) to allow air circulation and tension compensation.
Substrate:
The substrate must be dry, clean, and stable.
For uneven surfaces, a substructure of narrow wooden battens (e.g., 10 × 20 mm) is recommended. These can also be glued.
Notes:
Acclimatize the slats in the vehicle for at least 1–2 days before installation.
Install from bottom to top.
Plan for a 1–2mm expansion joint at the edges.
Thanks to their small thickness and low weight (approx. 3–4 kg/m²), our reclaimed wood slats are optimal for mobile spaces.
